Italy's Residency by Investment program, also known as the Italy Golden Visa, is an excellent option for non-EU citizens seeking to live in Italy legally through a strategic investment. You can qualify by investing in assets such as government bonds, Italian companies, innovative startups, or by donating to support public projects. In return, you get the right to live in Italy, enjoy its high quality of life, and travel freely within the Schengen Area. If you decide to stay long-term, you may also apply for permanent residency or even citizenship after a few years. It's a simple way to enjoy life in one of the world's most beautiful and historic countries.

Establish Your Global Presence
Getting Italian residency through investment involves a clear and detailed procedure. Here's how it works:
To be qualified for the Italian Golden Visa, you must select one of the suitable investment options. You can take a bond of € 2 million from the Italian Government, which is one of the safest and certain decisions. You can also invest €500,000 in shares of an Italian company, or just €250,000 if you invest in an innovative startup. Second, you can donate €1,000,000 to a project that is related to the public interest of Italy, whether it be in culture, industry, scientific, or education projects. And however you invest, you will need to stick with it for at least five years.
Once you have been given the visa, you will need to get the Nulla Osta certifying your entitlement to apply for the investor visa. This certificate can be obtained by online application and must be submitted to the Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) via the relevant website. You will then receive the Nulla Osta in about 30 days. Note that the certificate is valid for six months, and you must apply for the visa within these six months.
After receiving the Nulla Osta, you can apply for the Investor Visa at your nearest Italian consulate or embassy. You will need to provide several documents, including your Nulla Osta, proof of your investment, and evidence of the legal origin of your funds. You must submit your application within six months of receiving the Nulla Osta. Processing usually takes about 10 to 20 business days. Once your application is approved, you will be granted an Investor Visa, which allows you to travel to Italy and finalize your investment.
Just bring the visa that will be issued to you, and you can go to Italy. You must complete your investment, whether it involves buying bonds, investing in companies, or making a donation, within three months of arrival. After investing, you will need to provide proof to the Italian authorities, such as investment certificates or financial statements, to show that your investment has been completed.
After your investment is completed, you can apply for your Permesso di Soggiorno (residence permit). You must apply for this permit within eight days of arriving in Italy. To apply, you will need to visit the local police station (Questura) and submit documents such as proof of your investment, health insurance, and accommodation in Italy. The first residence permit is issued for two years and can be extended for three years. You can apply for Italian citizenship after 10 years of continuous residency.

The Golden Visa gives you residency, but not immediate citizenship. You must have lived in Italy for at least ten years before applying for citizenship. This wait can seem long when you are looking for a faster route to Italian citizenship.
Due to EU sanctions, Russian and Belarusian nationals, including dual citizens, are currently unable to apply for the Italian Golden Visa. This limitation is due to political factors and could affect some potential applicants.
To keep your residency, you must maintain the same investment for the duration of your stay. If you alter or sell the investment before the renewal period, your residency permit could be at risk.
