These usually include: Your international passport (with a Paraguayan visa if necessary) Your birth certificate Your marriage certificate, if applicable Police clearance from Paraguay, your country of residence, and Interpol A business plan or other document proving your intention to invest at least $70,000 over 10 years A bank statement showing your funds Depending on your situation, authorities may ask for extra documents. Fly to Asuncion and submit your application in person at the SUACE office. You’ll also pay the government processing fee, which is about $220. This step officially starts your residency journey in Paraguay.

Once the government approves your application, you become a permanent resident of Paraguay. You also receive your national ID card- called a “cedula.” This ID gives you access to Paraguay’s benefits, including public healthcare, banking services, and a favorable tax system.

After you hold permanent residency, you can apply for citizenship if you meet the conditions. You must: Live in Paraguay for at least 183 days per year for three years Prove that you invested as promised Pass two exams: one in Spanish or Guarani and one on Paraguayan history and politics Once you meet all these requirements, submit your citizenship application. While the passport process doesn’t follow a strict timeline, most applicants receive their passports within a few years. If you fail to make the investment, authorities may cancel your citizenship.
